Thursday, 11 May 2017

Jayne BradyAhead of our AMG '7 Minute Mentor' speed learning session in Melbourne on May 17, AJF Partnership head of client services Jayne Brady shares how important it is to take risks and never stop asking questions.

TCC: Why advertising as a career?

JB: I always wanted to work in a creative industry and for me advertising is the perfect mix of creative and analytical thinking.

TCC: If you hadn’t pursued this as a career, what else would you have done?

JB: I studied film and TV, so I think I would have ended up doing something in that area. Not far from where I ended up really!

TCC: Name three skills or qualities you think you need to stay at the top of your game?

JB: Determination, empathy and a sense of humour.

TCC: What’s the best part of your job?

JB: Working with some truly talented and creative people. The people I work with are the main reason I do what I do. They make the bad days bearable and the good days the best.

TCC: What’s the worst part of your job?

JB: When one of the above mentioned people leaves.

TCC: What’s your most embarrassing career moment?

JB: There are many. I’ve blocked them out. I just hope everyone else has.

TCC: What’s your career high?

JB: Being part of a winning pitch team is a pretty good feeling. And seeing a campaign you’ve been working on for months finally go live. I still get a buzz from seeing one of our ads on TV or driving past one of our billboards.

TCC: What do you look for in a team member?

JB: Someone who is a  logical thinker, wants to learn and has a love of creative and the creative process.

TCC:  If you could step back in time and offer yourself just one piece of advice as you started your career, what would it be?

JB: Don’t stress over things you can’t control. Don’t be afraid to take a risk. And never stop asking questions.
